Catherine Place is a small, well-respected non-profit located in a century old home in the Hilltop neighborhood of Tacoma. Founded in 2000, Catherine Place has made a positive difference in the lives of thousands of women in Pierce County. We are women empowering women, providing hospitality, companionship, advocacy, and education; supporting women, particularly those experiencing challenges related to poverty, violence, loss, illness, and/or immigration. Our mission is to improve the lives of women through Hope, Healing, and Connection.
Position
The Executive Director is responsible for Catherine Place’s staff, programs, finances, facilities, and mission fulfillment. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is the main voice for Catherine Place, articulating its mission and purpose throughout the community. The ideal candidate exhibits compassion and a commitment to social justice issues as well as being comfortable relating to people of many different cultures.
Responsibilities
- Ensure ongoing excellence in three program areas: Individual Advocacy, Support Groups and Circles, and Healing Arts
- Oversee fiscal health of the organization including budgets, contracts, cash flow, accounting, expense approval, payroll, benefits, and annual reporting
- Enhance awareness of Catherine Place’s mission by being active and visible in the community, working closely with other nonprofit, community, and private organizations
- Actively engage and energize Catherine Place board members, committees, program participants, partnering organizations, and funders
- Support the board of directors; serve as ex-officio of each committee; seek and build board involvement with strategic direction
- Partner with the Operations Director to ensure consistent quality of fundraising and communication
- Manage timelines and resources needed to achieve organizational strategic goals
- Ensure systems are in place to measure program success and effectively report progress to the board, funders, and other constituents
- Lead, coach, develop, evaluate, and retain Catherine Place employees
- Develop annual budget and provide monthly analysis of financial statements to board of directors
- Supervise contractors including the Bookkeeper, Accountant, Housekeeper, and Facilities maintenance professionals
Requirements
- Excellent listening and customer service skills
- Commitment to Catherine Place vision, mission, and values
- Effectively work with diverse people and trauma survivors
- Ability to work as a member of a team and independently
- 3 years’ experience in human resource activities and/or finance responsibility with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
- 3 years’ experience in nonprofit senior management or organizational leadership
- Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting
- Discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google products
- Ability to organize information and manage time with multiple priorities
Desirable Qualifications
- Past success in working with a board of directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
- Experience with database entry, preferably Salesforce and/or Little Green Light
- Verbal communication skills in Spanish
Compensation
This is a full time salary position starting at $57,000 a year. Most work will take place during business hours, although some evening and weekends may be required for outreach or special events. Catherine Place offers a competitive benefits package including unlimited paid time off, 11 paid holidays, 100% payment of employee healthcare, and a 2% retirement contribution starting the first full month of employment.
